My much-needed trip to New York began with a short flight. One of the best things about traveling from Canada to the US is clearing customs at the Canadian airport, making the arrival feel like a domestic flight. To save on transportation costs, I took a shuttle to my hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown. Though the room was compact, it was perfectly cozy for a solo traveler, complete with the hotel’s signature warm welcome cookie.

Even with temperatures hitting -15ยฐC, I braved the cold for NYC’s famous bagels. My first stop was Leon’s Bagels, where I tried their highly-rated bagel with jalapeรฑo cream cheeseโit was absolutely delicious! Later, a friend recommended Liberty Bagels, which turned out to be the best bagel I’ve ever had in my life. The accommodation cost in NYC can be high, but these affordable, world-class bagels make the trip truly worth it.

3. Coffee Hopping and Sweet Treats
Between exploring the city and riding the iconic subway, I made time for plenty of caffeine breaks. I visited a charming jewelry-concept cafe and enjoyed a smooth oat latte. Of course, no NYC trip is complete without Levain Bakery. Their classic walnut chocolate chip cookies are massive and a 100% must-recommend. For a peaceful break, I visited Pier 57, which offers a market, exhibition spaces, and stunning views of the Hudson River.
4. Pizza, Chinatown, and Brooklyn Bridge Sunset

For dinner, I embraced the comfort food vibes. I tried Prince Street Pizza, and “The Fancy Prince” (Margherita) was a total hit. I also explored Chinatown for the first time, which felt like stepping into a movie scene. To wrap up the experience, I headed to the Brooklyn Bridge for my very first time to witness a breathtaking sunset. I ended the night with another slice from Joe’s Pizza, the perfect way to conclude a day in the city.
